1. The Lawrence of Arabia Homepage.
Contains complete documentation of Lawrence including nominations, cast/crew credits, sound clips, films clips, films posters, and other related links.

2. Lawrence of Arabia: Production Stills and Items of Interest.
A gallery of movie stills, behind-the-scenes photographs, and other related material associated with Lawrence. The movie stills are "a gallery of 70mm frames."

3. Lawrence of Arabia.
Contains links to images, sound files, film clips, and other links.

4. Ron Paquet: Lawrence of Arabia.
Additional informaton on the origin of the screenplay for Lawrence of Arabia. The site claims that Michael Wilson received an earlier script by John Monk Saunders that was the basis for several fictional parts in Lawrence. Contains excerpts of Saunders script.

5. Greatest Films: Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
A complete synopsis of Lawrence including lenghty script excepts.

6. Urban Legends References Pages: Movies (Dr. Zhivago) [sic]
Relates the story of the near-tragic accident that occured during the filming of Doctor Zhivago.

7. 50 Great Films: A Personal List by Robert E. Yahnke.
Mr Yahnke, a profesor from University of Minnesota, lists his favorite 50 films of all time. Brief Encounter and Lawrence of Arabia are listed among the 50.

8. Lawrence of Arabia.
A critial study of the film Lawrence of Arabia. Slightly unfavorable review. The author criticizes Lean for "[refusing] to pick one position or perspective and stick with it." Although he praises the films photography, he believes that Lean does a poor job of fleshing out Lawrence's character.

9. Lawrence of Arabia (1962)-AFI #5
Part of the American Film Institutes best 100 films of all time. Provides a brief list of cast credits [updated to include Michael Wilson's screenwriting credit] and links to books, videotapes, and soundtracks related to the film.

11. Washing Post: Lawrence of Arabia (PG)
An article on the restored verson of Lawrence of Arabia. The author discusses the enhancements that have been made on the film and how it has been restored to its original granduer. Written by Rita Kempley on February 8, 1989.

12. Interview with Robert Harris
Part of David Morgan's web site, "Wide Angle/Closeup." Morgan interviews Robert Harris about his involvement in restoring Lawrence of Arabia and Spartacus. Harris discusses in detail the condition of Lawrence's sound track and the effort made to restore Maurice Jarre's original recording of the score.

 

On-line Reviews

1. Salon-Movies.
Brief review of Lawrence of Arabia. The author-Gary Kamiya-praises the films overall look but supports the criticism that the film is "murky, mudled, and usure of what it is saying."

2. Chicago Sun Times: Lawrence of Arabia
Roger Eberts review of Lawrence of Arabia. A positive review of the Lawrence originally published after the re-release of the film. Ebert provides a bit of background on the real Lawrence and describes the unique experience of seeing Lawrence on a large screen. Rated: four stars out four.

3. Washington Post: Lawrence of Arabia (PG)
A positive review of the film published after the re-release of Lawrence. The author states it is difficult to review a film that "is too emotionally overpowering for critical reservations." Written by Desson Howe on February 3, 1989.

4. Mr. Showbiz Movie Guide: Lawrence of Arabia
Brief positive review of the film. Contains complete cas and crew credits.

5. Doctor Zhivago-twincities.sidewalk
Brief positive review of the film. Contains a short list of credits.

6. Chicago Sun Time: Dr. Zhivago. [sic]
Roger Eberts review of the film. Ebert aligns himself with fellow critics who thought the film "lumbers noisily from nowhere to nowhere." However, Ebert does praise the films mis-en-scene and how well Lean captured the feeling of Russia during that period. Rated: three stars out of four.

7. Mr. Cranky rates Lawrence of Arabia
Mr. Cranky--the infamous internet reviewer--gives Lawrence "one bomb." Not a good rating. He declares that Lawrence "is a sissy, albeit a sissy who likes hot weather," and states that "no barf bag is big enough to contain the level of disgust [for this film]." The site also contains links to discussions on Mr. Cranky's review and other related items.
